As we enter into the holiday season--the Season of Lights--with Hanukkah now over and Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Years coming soon, it's the time when we have a chance to reflect on the year just past and look forward to the year to come.
It's also a time when we can vision what our hopes and desires might be, both for ourselves and for the world.
In that regard, I have made a short, 2 1/2 minute film, Visions of Humanity, that you can watch by clicking on the video above. In the video, I pose the question: What is the collective vision of humanity? The film itself is a sweet, uplifting, and heartfelt look at our aspirational dreams.
In other news, on January 16, 2024, I'll be launching a crowdfunding campaign for a documentary film I plan to make next year, entitled How to Save Democracy. It's a pertinent and timely topic, what with democracy teetering both in the U.S. and other democratic nations around the world.
I'll have more information once I launch the campaign on January 16.
Crowdfunding is an excellent approach to cultivate collaboration, as everyone who contributes becomes part of the project. We're all in this together--together we are strong. I hope you seriously consider becoming part of this collaboration, as I need your help not only with your contribution to this crowdfunding campaign, but by your being a collaborative partner in getting this film made and getting the word out once it is made.
Also, Anodea Judith and I will be back to begin our fourth year of doing Voices for the Future on January 9, when we interview the documentary filmmaker Maren Poitras, whose new feature documentary, Finding the Money, will be coming out in the spring.
Finding the Money is a powerful film that shows how it is possible to create a society in which every citizen is taken care of. The film shows how an underdog group of economists are on a mission to instigate a paradigm shift by flipping our understanding of the national debt—and the nature of money—upside down. More information about this upcoming program will be forthcoming.
We've also been busy lining up guests for next year's Voices for the Future, including welcoming back the always profoundly thoughtful and insightful writer, Mark Nepo.
And so, I wish you a beautiful Season of Lights, and hope that your vision of humanity can be in alignment with the greatest good.
