People on all sides of the political landscape sense that things in our world need to change dramatically--the difference is how and in what direction. Those of us who have spent years working and praying for a positive shift may be disillusioned by the current climate of chaos and deception that seem to be taking over our political institutions, orchestrated by people who don't appear to care if they tear democracy to shreds and burn it all down.
Can we really be going so far backward at a time when life is hanging by a thread? We seem to be losing ground on rectifying racism, sexism, wealth inequality, environmental protections and the health of our planet, and so much more.
Not too long ago, it seemed we were so close to becoming a more enlightened society, yet now it feels we have regressed to the point where cruelty and the worst human impulses have taken over. Can there be a silver lining to the dark cloud that hangs over our nation and much of the world? If so, how do we navigate these changes for creating the better world we know in our hearts is possible?
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "the arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice." Right now, justice feels far away.
If you are feeling confused, angry, unsure, or helpless, you’ll surely want to hear our next featured speaker, Stephen Dinan, as we explore the current political situation and what we can do to turn things around into a larger shift toward a positive future.
