A Screening of "How to Save Democracy" on May 3rd!
I’ve had two screenings of my new documentary film, How to Save Democracy, in my hometown of Saratoga Springs, NY, and I'm having one more screening in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, May 3 at 3pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Saratoga Springs, 624 North Broadway.
Admission is free, and there will be a Q&A after the film.
There are no other screenings in Saratoga Springs planned after this one, as I'm aiming to get the film out nationally from here, so this could be your last chance to see it, if you live in the region and you haven't seen it before, or want to see it again.
To see the trailer to the film and learn more about it, you can go to the film website at https://savingdemocracyfilm.com
And if you are interested in hosting a screening, whether in-person or virtual, you can go to the screening request page on the film website and fill out the form.
The film has a lot of information, both about the problems facing democracy in the U.S. that have got us to this moment in time, and also the solutions to get us out of this. I end the film on a hopeful note, because as was said at the end of the film, "People have succeeded in darker times than these, and so if they could do that, there's no reason we can't either."
In the film, I interview some truly brilliant people, all experts on democracy and the issues facing the U.S. in the present day. The people--Pulitzer Prize winners, journalists, authors, activists, constitutional scholars, and historians--all give depth and perspective on what it would take for the U.S. to realize the true aspirations of democracy.
The film includes archival images and footage from the 19th and 20th centuries, including talks and speeches by Franklin Delano Roosevelt that will be sure to truly inspire you.
While the times we live in right now seem dark, we can't give up hope, and my film will surely give you that hope. It tells the story of where things went wrong, and shows how things can go right.
And so, if you live anywhere near Saratoga Springs, NY, I hope you can make it to the screening of How to Save Democracy on Saturday, May 3rd at 3pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Saratoga Springs, 624 North Broadway.
